Which area of Istanbul is best for a one-week stay with good value, near metro, and ideally close to a park or waterfront?

The area is practical for shopping and daily errands: there is a small local mall nearby, and Cevahir Mall is about one metro stop away or roughly a 20-minute walk.

If your main plan is visiting Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet every day, this area is not the most direct choice: you typically need to take the metro first and then transfer to the tram.

Another practical advantage is that around the metro there are regular fruit and vegetable shops with reasonable prices, so the area works well for apartments and self-catering stays too.
