What are the beaches like in Marmaris - rocky or sandy, and how do you get into the sea comfortably?

TL;DR

Most Marmaris town beaches have coarse pebbles at the entry (about 1-1.5m) before the bottom turns sandy; to avoid the rocky patch, you can enter the water from one of two town piers. Private boat trips are also available right from the pier.

At one beach with a pier you can jump into the sea from height. The area is large and green, but the shore has stones — water shoes (coral shoes) are recommended for entering the sea.

For walks, besides heading along the promenade to the center, the direction toward Icmeler is especially scenic.

You can book a private boat trip around Marmaris directly from the pier, no need to travel elsewhere. Getting to Hisarönü bay is usually only possible on an organized excursion.

The sea entry has some large rocks near the shore, but there are two town piers where you can get into the water without walking over the rocks.

No big boulders here — the shore has coarse pebbles for about 1-1.5 meters, then the bottom turns sandy.

A seafront promenade stretches over 5 km. Take a dolmuş (shared minibus) to Marmaris Castle - it's small, but the walls offer a view over the whole bay; entrance is paid.
