How to get from hotels near Side to the old town and local markets?

For shopping: in September 2026 travelers caught dolmuş No. 5 outside their hotel — it runs through the tourist area, then along the highway into Manavgat and stops right by a large store: you just cross the road. The return stop is five metres from the store. In October another traveler wrote that buses to Side and Manavgat run often from a stop near the hotel, and she used them a couple of times to get to the Novamall shopping centre.

A regular taxi: in August 2026 a participant wrote that you can catch a taxi right outside the hotel, the driver takes you straight there, and a ride costs on average US$10–20 depending on distance.

Another dolmuş option (June 2026): a minibus marked 'Side' stops right by the road outside the hotel — ride to the last stop and you are in Old Side. For the return, take a dolmuş marked 'Çolaklı'. The fare, as the participant remembered, was about €2; you can pay in euros, dollars or lira, and the driver has a chart with the price for one, two, three people and so on. Prices, they said, change all the time.

Taxi with waiting time: in June 2026 travelers who found the minibuses too crowded agreed with a taxi driver outside the hotel on a round trip to Antik Side for US$50. When they had finished, they messaged him 30 minutes ahead, he came to pick them up, and they paid back at the hotel. A local taxi, they said, comfortably fits about five people, so a small group can share the cost. In September a similar US$50 price was quoted for a trip to the old town and the Novamall shopping centre with a ride back.

Dolmuş No. 1 (June 2026): according to a participant, go to the hotel barrier and flag it down — no need to walk anywhere. The windscreen reads 'Side, Manavgat'; ask the driver for 'Antik Side'. The fare then was 50 lira per person. The minibus stops at the Antik Side bus station and continues to Manavgat; you return the same way. From the stop you walk to the ruins; there is also a little tourist train for 30 lira, card only, though the participant did not see much point in it.

Another tip from June 2026: to get to Side, cross the road, take a dolmuş from the stop and simply ask the driver for 'Antik Side' — it is usually written on the side of the minibus too. On the way back, participants rode to the Waikiki store in Side, crossed the junction and caught a dolmuş back to the hotel from there. Some go by minibus and walk back.

On foot and by taxi (June 2026): a traveler wrote that there was not much to walk to near their hotel — only a Waikiki store and small bazaars nearby. They walked to Side old town in about 35 minutes and came back by taxi for €10.
