TL;DR
Yes, you can bring your own towel to Yas Waterworld — no need to rent a locker, just leave your bag on a lounger covered by the towel. For the heat, wear a rash guard or sun-protective clothing plus SPF50, and refill water at drinking fountains around the park.
Bringing your own towel is fine, and you can also bring your own water — there are plenty of drinking fountains throughout the park to refill bottles. Bringing outside food hasn't been tested, so it's unclear if security allows it.
During peak heat (after May), it's recommended to wear full sun-protective clothing — long pants and a long-sleeve top — otherwise the visit can be pretty uncomfortable.
Visited the park during similarly hot weather the week before — crowds were light and lines were short. Wore rash guards and applied SPF50 sunscreen on face, arms, and legs.
Walking barefoot on the pavement is hot, but waiting in line at the slides is manageable since you're still wet from the previous ride. Staircases are shaded, and some areas have fans running.
The wave pool water is refreshingly cool and pleasant. However, avoid spending too much time on the lazy river with an inflatable tube — that's where you can really get sunburned.
