Strong currents were reported near the island off the Royal M beach. One swimmer began drowning and was brought ashore by a boat from Miramar. Avoid swimming to the island without safety support; a hotel offered lifeguard backup in one reported case, so check availability beforehand.

According to The Cove Rotana Resort’s 24 August response, beach access was temporarily restricted after a recent oil spill until cleanup was completed and the area was safe again.

Guests reporting on 19–20 August described the UAE as quiet, calm and safe; however, travelers should expect intense heat and, in some hotel areas, very strong air conditioning.

On 21 July 2026 a report noted the hotel beach and sea were covered in oil/tar (mazut), with a question about when cleanup would happen.

As of 10 July 2026, the tourist resort area was calm: guests were walking around the hotel grounds and using the beach normally.

There were no reported signs of military activity in the resort area; the latest on-the-ground update described normal conditions for tourists.

The sea and beach were being used as normal, with people swimming, so beach holidays were continuing without disruption.

Resorts currently have fewer visitors than during peak season, making the overall experience more comfortable and less crowded.

Sun loungers were available both on the beach and by the pool, so finding a place to relax did not seem to be a problem.
