TL;DR
Club status at hotels (e.g. Le Meridien) gives access to a separate pool, lounge and personalized service, worth around an extra $1000 — but at good hotels (like Address) you get excellent service even without club membership.
Many hotels offer club privileges, for example the nearby Le Meridien. One guest paid around $1000 extra for club status and felt it was worth every cent in service and comfort.
The club concept is designed so that from the outside you can't tell a club guest apart from a breakfast-only or all-inclusive guest. But the club lounge and pool are closed to non-club guests, and inside, staff know guests by name and personally escort them to their favorite table for breakfast or evening brunch.
Another guest pointed out that top-level service should be the norm for the whole hotel, not just club guests. As an example, at the Address hotel, even without club status, staff knew guests by name, greeted them and checked in on how their stay was going.
