Where can you swim safely at Dubai beaches, and do you need water shoes for sea life?

Watch where you step in the sea: stingrays can lie hidden under the sand, sometimes visible only by their outline or eyes. Small fish may be close to shore, so enter carefully and avoid creating strong waves.

Reef shoes, aqua socks or water shoes are recommended for the beach, pool and water slides. Sea urchins can be spotted, but are usually farther out, at around shoulder-deep water.

Swimming is possible along the full beach strip. Mercato Beach and La Mer are also mentioned as walkable nearby options, giving swimmers access to neighboring stretches of coast.
