Power banks under 100 Wh (typically up to 20,000–27,000 mAh) can be carried on board without any special permission — this is the standard rule for most airlines.
Under 100 Wh — no restrictions
Power banks between 100 and 160 Wh are allowed but require prior airline approval. A maximum of two such devices per passenger is permitted.
100–160 Wh — airline approval, max 2 units
Power banks exceeding 160 Wh are completely prohibited on passenger flights.
Over 160 Wh — prohibited
On domestic flights within China, rules are stricter: power banks must carry CCC (China Compulsory Certification) marking. Devices without it may be confiscated at security.
Domestic China flights — CCC certification required
On international flights transiting through China (e.g. via Beijing), power banks without CCC certification are generally not checked or confiscated. However, there were isolated cases of confiscation on international routes when the rules were first introduced.
International transit through China — usually not checked
