Can you bring fruit from Vietnam to Russia in carry-on luggage, especially on flights via China or with Azur Air?

On a Chinese airline flight, upon landing in Moscow the crew announced that bringing in fruit and plants is prohibited by the destination country and asked passengers to hand them over to flight attendants.

According to chat members, fruit also cannot be brought into China itself, so when connecting via China the safest option is to have checked baggage tagged straight through to Moscow rather than reclaiming and rechecking it at the transit airport.

On some flights to Moscow, passengers were told to bag the fruit and place it inside checked luggage. It was not accepted in the cabin, partly because soft fruit can leak during the flight.

For departures from Cam Ranh on Azur Air, travelers specifically check whether fruit baskets are allowed as carry-on. A practical benchmark is the 5 kg cabin baggage limit, but that does not guarantee the basket will be accepted in the cabin without extra fees.

If your flight to Russia connects through China, fruit rules may be stricter than on a direct flight. Before departure, check both your cabin baggage allowance and any transit restrictions for the China segment.
