Where to buy pearls in Da Nang or Hoi An, and how can you avoid fakes?

In June 2026 a shopper compared pearl prices: at Hoi An market a piece was quoted at about 4 million VND. In her experience, the market is not necessarily cheaper than a store — tourist prices there can be quite high.

The same shopper said a similar pearl piece was sold in a large warehouse-style store for about the same amount, but with a certificate. For an expensive purchase, that gives some assurance it is not a fake. This is one person's observation, so check the price and paperwork on the spot.

An unusually low price should make you cautious: in the shopper's experience, imitation pearls can be bought for as little as 100,000 VND. A cheap piece without documents is unlikely to be real pearl.
