Where to rent or buy a 50cc scooter in Da Nang without getting scammed by resellers?

In September 2026 a group of travelers rented two scooters — a 100cc and a 50cc — for 7 days, paying 1.8 million VND for both. They left a driver's licence (in their case a Russian one) as the deposit. They admitted they may have overpaid: they did not shop around or compare prices, they simply walked in and rented.

In August 2026 a participant noted that rentals mostly offer scooters above 50cc, but there are enough 50cc ones too. In their view a 50cc scooter is great for getting around the city; trips out of town are possible but less comfortable than on a more powerful bike.

Asked about a large scooter market with 50cc models, a participant replied in August 2026 that Da Nang has no such place. Instead, about a dozen reseller spots are scattered around the city, so you have to visit them one by one to choose.

According to the same participant, resellers sometimes offer dead, non-working 50cc scooters at the price of working ones. So check the bike's condition in person before paying rather than relying on the seller's description.

The participant also warned that the same resellers post fake Facebook listings as bait: when a buyer gets in touch, they are told the bike has already been sold and offered another one that is more expensive and in worse condition. This observation dates from August 2026.

In a participant's estimate from August 2026, anything decent for less than eight million VND turns up very rarely. If a 50cc scooter is offered noticeably cheaper, that is a reason to check its condition especially carefully.
