How to avoid fake Grab drivers and taxi scams at Hanoi Airport

At Hanoi Airport, some drivers pose as Grab drivers while showing only a logo or screenshot rather than an active booking. Verify the ride in your own Grab app before getting in.

If you negotiate with a driver at the airport, agree on the fare in advance and compare it with the Grab price. A traveler was able to keep the ride at the app’s quoted rate by insisting on it before continuing.

Do not agree to a vehicle swap or hand over cash before the terms are clear. In one reported case, the driver demanded extra money after leaving the airport, asked the passenger to change cars, and did not return the full amount.
