What is the weather like in Hanoi in summer — how often does it rain?

In early July, Hanoi gets brief rain showers a few times a day — lasting about 8–10 minutes each — followed by strong sunshine. Overall still manageable for sightseeing.

After overnight rain, Hanoi mornings can be overcast but pleasantly cool at around +28°C — ideal for walking the city. On hot days reaching +38°C, sightseeing on foot becomes very difficult.

During a 3-day stay combining Hanoi with day trips to Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay, no rain was encountered at all — though conditions in the city during daytime excursions are harder to track.
