Does Vietnam Airlines strictly enforce carry-on baggage size limits?

TL;DR

Vietnam Airlines may check carry-on dimensions using a size gauge. Even 1 cm over the limit can cause issues — always measure your bag including wheels before flying.

When choosing a carry-on bag, always measure the full dimensions including wheels and handles. Most standard mid-size suitcases exceed airline limits once all protruding parts are included.

Tip: measure including wheels

Booking Vietnam Airlines tickets via Trip.com is generally fine with no major hidden issues. Just check the baggage allowance rules carefully for the fare you select.

Enforcement of carry-on size rules on Vietnam Airlines varies by flight and staff, but the risk is real — agents may use a size gauge, and an oversized bag could be checked at extra cost.
