TL;DR

Yes. The duty-free allowance is 3 liters of alcohol per traveler aged 18 or over, so two people can bring 6 liters even in one checked bag. Splitting it into 3 liters per bag may make a customs check simpler.

The allowance is linked to each traveler aged 18 or over, not to the number of suitcases. Two adults can bring a combined total of 6 liters of alcohol duty-free.

3 liters per person

All 6 liters can be packed in one checked suitcase; this does not by itself breach the allowance if the alcohol belongs to two travelers.

6 liters for two travelers

To reduce questions at customs, it is more practical to split the alcohol into 3 liters in each of two suitcases.

3 L + 3 L

You may bring up to 5 liters per person, but every liter above the duty-free 3-liter allowance is charged at €10. More than 5 liters per traveler is not allowed.
