Do I need to fill out a digital migration card before entering Vietnam?

The digital arrival card can be filled out no earlier than 72 hours before entry on the official Vietnamese immigration website. After completing the form, a QR code is generated — save it on your phone or print it out.

From June 1, 2026, a QR code from the digital migration card is mandatory for all tourists arriving by air in Vietnam. There are no exceptions — without it, passport control will take considerably longer.

Vietnam's e-visa is applied for online in advance. Confirmation is sent by email, but some travelers report waiting several days without a response — allow extra time before your trip.

Since April 15, 2026, all foreign nationals must complete a digital migration card before passport control. It can be filled out in advance online by providing passport details, flight number, accommodation address, and purpose of visit. A QR code is then sent by email and must be shown at passport control. It is also possible to fill out the card on arrival at the airport, but this will slow down the process.
