How much do cigarettes cost in Nha Trang, Vietnam?

In August 2026 a traveler cited an even lower figure: about 18,000 VND for a pack of local cigarettes. Prices vary between shops and vendors, so treat this as a guide rather than a fixed price.

Among local brands, participants in August 2026 recommended Thang Long (a yellow pack in a tin) and Yett. Captain Black can be found in the center: in one participant's view a fair price is about 50,000 VND, though one street vendor was asking 80,000.

Bicycle and street vendors charge more than shops: in September 2026 travelers warned that you will pay roughly one and a half times the shop price there. One traveler wrote in July that street vendors never once let him have a pack for less than 140,000 VND.

There is also the opposite experience. In July and September 2026 a traveler said her husband developed a bad cough after cigarettes bought in Nha Trang, so the family now brings their own. Other smokers in August–September called local cigarettes poor in quality and Kent "so-so"; they advised looking for packs with an excise stamp, although in one participant's view even that is no guarantee of authenticity.

Street vendors' selection also differs from the shops. In July 2026 a Chapman smoker wrote that he could not find the brand in shops, while street vendors sold it for 100,000 VND. In August participants confirmed that bicycle vendors carry Chapman and are likely to have Kent too.

Many travelers feel there is no need to bring cigarettes. In June 2026 they wrote that cigarettes in Vietnam are several times cheaper, local ones are quite decent, and one smoker even regretted not buying more to take home. Keep in mind that you may not find your usual brand locally.

According to one participant in July 2026, the official allowance for bringing tobacco into Vietnam is reportedly 400 cigarettes and 500 g of tobacco; this is his understanding, so check Vietnam's customs rules before you travel. Other travelers wrote in June that they brought their own cigarettes in without problems.

In June 2026 the wife of a long-time smoker shared that local cigarettes cost 20,000–30,000 VND a pack and are decent quality, though not very strong. Camel, Marlboro and Chapman are more expensive, at roughly 50,000–80,000 VND. Chinese cigarettes, she said, cost even more, and cigarillos and cigars can also be found inexpensively.

Where to buy: cigarettes are sold in shops, at the night market (travelers saw them there in June 2026), and by street vendors, some of whom walk around with carts or boxes and offer cigarettes to passers-by. It is worth comparing prices before buying, since street sellers usually charge more.
