How to check your own phone number on a Vietnamese SIM card?

In October 2026 participants shared the codes for checking your own number: Vinaphone *110#, Vietnamobile *123#, Mobifone *0#, Viettel *098#. You dial the code like a normal call. Each carrier has its own code, so if you bought a SIM from a street vendor and do not know the carrier, find that out first.

Not every eSIM comes with a number. In August 2026 a participant described an eSIM with a Vietnamese number sold on Trip.com: it cannot make or receive calls, but it does receive SMS, which is enough to register in apps such as ride-hailing or Lazada. In September another traveler wrote that the eSIM they bought at home was data-only, with no number, so they could not sign up for Grab with it.

Why the number matters: in August 2026 a Vietnamobile SIM owner wrote that they could not register anywhere without knowing it. Another participant said registering in Zalo with a foreign number is almost impossible — they tried a Georgian number and the SMS never arrived — and suggested getting a Vietnamese number once in the country.

Where to buy a SIM with a number: in July 2026 participants recommended any mobile carrier store, for example Viettel. That way you know the carrier from the start and which code to dial to check your number.
