TL;DR
Nha Trang sees serious motorbike accidents involving tourists, and some tour agencies understate real risks (e.g. actual water depth for cliff jumps) while failing to provide first aid — choose agencies carefully and always carry travel insurance.
On a tour by agency "VieTour" to Ba Ho park, the guide claimed the cliff-jump spot was 5-6m deep and safe, with no warning signs. In reality it was shallow — the tourist hit his head on the bottom and was seriously injured.
The accompanying guide had no first aid kit — only iodine and a band-aid were found at the park checkpoint. The guide refused to call an ambulance, saying she had to continue leading the group, and told the injured tourist to get a taxi himself and sort it out with his insurance.
After the injury, agency "VieTour" refused to refund the $105 tour fee and claimed the tourist was warned of the danger and given proper assistance. The tourist filed a police report and complained to Vietnam's Department of Tourism.
Russian tourists on a motorbike in Nha Trang were hit by a jeep driven by a local, who fled the scene. The woman's leg was crushed and the man suffered a head injury. According to witnesses, police barely responded, and the injured tourists couldn't board their flight home because they hadn't obtained the correctly-formatted hospital certificate in time.
Travelers note that on social media (banned in Russia) there are frequent videos of accidents involving Russian-speaking tourists on scooters/motorbikes in Nha Trang — according to them, such incidents happen almost daily.
