What questions do immigration officers ask at Vietnam border control?

In one recent experience, immigration officers in Ho Chi Minh City and Cam Ranh asked no questions at all. A QR code completed before the trip was not needed either.

At departure, officers may ask where you're flying, the purpose of your trip, and how many citizenships you hold. After brief answers they wish you a good trip — the whole process takes just a couple of minutes.

Standard questions at the border include why you're visiting and how long you plan to stay. Nothing unexpected — the process is calm and without lengthy interrogations unlike some other countries.

For comparison, some countries like South Korea can ask highly unusual questions at immigration — such as requesting photos from your workplace. Vietnam is considerably more straightforward and predictable by comparison.
