TL;DR
New World has a better beach, while Melia Vinpearl is well-located in the Sonasea area near the south island attractions. Choose based on your priorities.
Regarding beaches near hotels in the central area (Melia Vinpearl zone): the water is dirty with noticeable sewage runoff, and finding a good spot near the hotel takes effort. Staying in the center is currently not recommended. Khem Beach is much cleaner — white sand, clear water, few people.
Another review: the beach right by the hotel isn't great, but about 1 km to the south there's a decent spot for swimming, with many cafes within walking distance.
Melia Vinpearl is located in the Sonasea area, one of the most popular resort zones on Phu Quoc. The hotel is solid with a tidy beach and pools, though the sea is slightly inferior to the north of the island. The upside is proximity to south island attractions.
If you're traveling with kids or want active entertainment, proximity to the south island attractions matters: there's a water park, safari park, and aquarium. The large water park at the southern tip of the island is especially recommended and considered a must-visit.
New World Phu Quoc Resort has a noticeably better beach — that's its main advantage over Melia Vinpearl. If beach quality and sea conditions are your top priority, New World is the stronger choice.
