TL;DR
An overnight bus from Hurghada to Cairo is exhausting — better to fly into Cairo separately for about a week and cover Giza, the Egyptian Museum, the City of the Dead, plus a side trip to Alexandria.
Better to book flights yourself and fly to Cairo independently for a couple of days, rather than through an agency. Choose a hotel with pyramid views — you can have breakfast on the terrace and watch sunset overlooking the pyramids. From there it's convenient to visit Alexandria overnight. Best time to go is November through March, saving the beach part of the trip for after.
Finding a trusted travel agency for Cairo and Luxor excursions can be tricky — travelers often ask fellow expats for agency contacts. Overnight tour options to Luxor are also available.
Taking an overnight bus to Cairo from Hurghada is not worth it — too exhausting. Better to fly directly into Cairo and spend about a week there as a separate trip.
In a week in Cairo, plan to see the Giza pyramids, the City of the Dead necropolis, Cairo's museums (including the Egyptian Museum), and take a Nile cruise or boat excursion.
If time allows, add a day trip to Alexandria on top of your Cairo itinerary.
