Is it worth visiting the Pyramids in Cairo and Luxor in July or August if you don’t handle extreme heat well?

One traveler is worried that September in Cairo might actually be hotter than late August — a month-ahead forecast shows intense heat, though such long-range forecasts aren't guaranteed to be accurate.

A Cairo resident notes that the heat in Cairo is actually easier to handle than in Sharm el-Sheikh or in Dubai during April-May — so compared to other destinations, Cairo isn't the harshest option for heat.

The most recent advice says it is currently too hot for the Pyramids: temperatures around 45°C+ are expected, making open-air sightseeing very tough. A better option is to plan Cairo for another season.

Even in late April, travelers said Cairo already felt overwhelmingly hot and sightseeing was difficult. If you are sensitive to heat, July and August will be even harder than late April.

If you still have to go in summer, the practical advice is to carry plenty of water, wear light but covering clothes, use a hat, and apply sunscreen. Bring a light layer for tour buses, because the air conditioning can be very cold.

The overall answer about August was mostly negative: for travelers who do not cope well with heat, summer trips to both the Pyramids and Luxor are considered very demanding. As a compromise, some would consider only the Pyramids, but without expecting comfortable daytime touring.

Early October was mentioned as a more manageable time for Cairo: around 35°C was still hot, but considered bearable compared with peak summer. That is noticeably easier than July or August heat.
