TL;DR
In summer, arrive at Giza right at the gate opening (7:00 AM, pyramids open at 8:00 AM) and plan to leave by 10-11 AM — after that the heat becomes unbearable.
In summer (June), the trip to the pyramids is physically tough — many tourists reported struggling with the heat.
August has fewer crowds but very high heat. The site gates open at 7:00 AM, pyramids at 8:00 AM. Golf carts are available to get around the complex. Inside the pyramids it's hot, stuffy and humid too. Try to leave by 10-11 AM — after that it gets really hard to stay.
The bus ride to the pyramids in summer can feel cold due to AC, while it's very hot once you're at the site — some travelers struggle with this temperature swing. The drive there is fairly long, so plan accordingly.
