Is the alcohol at Egyptian all-inclusive hotels imported or local?

One participant notes that hotels like Sultan, Oasis, or Sentido all pour local alcohol, typically from the mid-to-low price segment — to notice any real difference, you'd need to know the specific local alcohol brands.

Under the all-inclusive concept, the in-room minibar fridge is usually stocked only with non-alcoholic canned drinks; alcohol is served in glasses at the bars, not handed out in bottles/cans for the room. Guests can bring their own alcohol to store in the room fridge. Imported alcohol is paid almost everywhere except premium resorts like Rixos or SunRise.

At the Alkazar hotel the wine served is comparable to regular store-bought wine (compared to South African wines), unlike the standard Egyptian alcohol poured from kegs/bags used at most hotels.

One discussion participant noted Rixos and Steigenberger hotels are an exception, offering noticeably better alcohol than typical Egyptian five-star hotels, where drink quality is usually poor.

Egypt produces its own alcohol locally, which is what gets served at hotels — similar to Turkey. It's not counterfeit spirits, but a decent local product, just not imported.

Imported alcohol is very expensive in Egypt, so it's not available at the standard all-inclusive bar. Every hotel without exception pours local spirits into branded bottles.

Genuine imported alcohol is only available for an extra fee through premium drink packages — for example, the 'Posh' package at Sunrise hotels, 'Ultra' at Steigenberger Hurghada, or at the Four Seasons.
