Where to find ATMs and currency exchange in Hurghada and Sahl Hasheesh?

For reference: in October 2026 travelers exchanged dollars for pounds at the ATM at their hotel reception at 1 US dollar = 52 Egyptian pounds. That ATM did not accept Russian roubles, and according to the same traveler, roubles could not be exchanged for dollars or pounds even at a bank in Dahab. Rates change; this is an observation as of the message date.

In September 2026 a traveler whose hotel had no ATMs found the nearest machines offering cardless currency exchange: turn right out of the hotel and walk straight along the road for about 15 minutes to the Steigenberger hotel; on the left side of the road there are about seven different ATMs, including ones that exchange cash without a card. Watch out for old-style US dollar bills: in September 2026 participants wrote that they are not accepted in Hurghada — at most you can leave them as a tip on excursions. At the same time, shops, the airport and banks may give you change in old dollars that you then cannot spend, so check your change carefully.

In August 2026 a participant pointed to an ATM by the Sunny Days hotel: leave through the old entrance and cross the road. As an alternative, they suggested Hurghada City Center, which has several ATMs.

For Esplanada Mall, an August 2026 tip was to bring your passport: there are many exchange ATMs along the Mamsha promenade and an exchange office nearby. The participant added that Esplanada Mall is not really a mall in the usual sense.

If the ATM at your hotel is not working, an August 2026 tip was to try the hotel on the second line, which also has an ATM. If that one is down too, walk past the Swiss Inn toward the Steigenberger: on your left there is a small area with several ATMs.

In late July 2026 travelers exchanged dollars for pounds at a bank branch about a 5-minute walk from the Pyramisa hotel: go out to the promenade between the beach and the hotel, face the sea and walk right past the Serenity hotel; there are shopping stalls on the right along the promenade — take the first right by them and walk uphill to the bank with a dark burgundy sign. Bring your passport.

Hurghada City Center mall has several ATMs, according to messages from June and August 2026, and you can check the dollar rate there. In June a taxi there was quoted at about 1 US dollar.

If you are staying at the city Empire hotel, a June 2026 tip was that there is a bank 100–300 meters to the right along the street from the hotel exit.

At Senzo Mall, according to an August 2026 message, ATMs are in the Eastern Bazaar near the children's play area, and further along there is an exchange window; a passport is required to exchange money. In June 2026 a traveler reported that the ATM at Senzo was not working that day, but there was a currency exchange nearby that asked for a passport or a hotel voucher.
