Where to find banks in Hurghada and how to retrieve a swallowed ATM card?

Around the Sheraton. In September 2026 participants wrote that the Sheraton area is full of ATMs, banks and exchange offices that change money with a passport. Another participant noted that banks can be right across from your hotel — just cross the road with your passport — with exchange offices and ATMs next to the banks.

Exchanging at the branch. In August 2026 a participant advised that if you come during the day before 15:00, you can change money inside the bank with your passport. In September 2026 another added that the security guard may send you to the ATM — insist on being served in the bank and explain that the ATM does not exchange money.

Hurghada City Mall. In August 2026 a participant pointed out that about a 10-minute walk from where they were is the Hurghada City mall, which has an ATM and a Carrefour store where you can pay in Egyptian pounds; they added that a Russian-issued RSHB card was also accepted there.

Mamsha promenade. In July 2026 a participant suggested walking along the Mamsha promenade, where there are more ATMs further on worth trying. Exchange offices, with your passport, are another option.

ATMs running dry at weekends. In June 2026 a participant suggested that ATMs might not be refilled over the weekend and advised trying again. As a fallback, exchange offices are open, and the bank opens again from Sunday — bring your passport. In September 2026 another participant also wondered whether ATMs run empty on Fridays and Saturdays.

If an ATM keeps your card. In June 2026 a traveler whose card was swallowed was advised to call the bank's hotline first and then, most likely on Sunday after the weekend, go to the bank with a passport to collect the card. The traveler wrote that they had been pointed to the nearest branch and would go there on Sunday with their passport to file a request.

Where the banks are. In June 2026 a participant explained that at the Gomla supermarket in the Kauser area, the whole street opposite is lined with banks, one after another. If you are near the Sheraton, walk a little toward the Regina hotel and you will find several banks across the street. In August 2026 another participant confirmed that several banks stand right across the road from Gomla.

Hours and days off. According to participants from June to September 2026, banks are open until 15:00, or 'until lunchtime', and are closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Bring your passport for any transaction.
