TL;DR
Winter days in Luxor can feel hot, even in late December and early January, especially on daytime tours. Bring a sweatshirt or light jacket for early mornings and evenings, particularly if travelling from the Red Sea coast.
Until mid-November, daytime temperatures reached about 30°C and the sea was around 26–27°C. From about 12 November, stronger wind made it chilly after swimming, and sweaters or hoodies were useful in the evening.
At the end of November, travellers reported comfortable conditions: air temperatures of 25–27°C and water at about 26°C. Wind affected only one day, so beach time was still pleasant.
January winds on Egypt’s Red Sea coast can be cold enough for a warm jacket. For a Luxor day trip, pack layers: mornings may be cool, while daytime is much warmer.
On a Luxor excursion between 26 December and 4 January, daytime conditions felt hot, although sweatshirts were needed in the evening on the coast. Bring light sightseeing clothes, sun protection, and an extra layer for later in the day.
