TL;DR
Pickalbatros Vita Resort Portofino and Villaggio Portofino share one large complex, including restaurants, pools, water park and beach facilities. For most travelers, it makes sense to book whichever of the two is cheaper for your dates.
Vita Resort Portofino and Villaggio Portofino operate as one shared resort complex. If room categories are comparable, choose the lower-priced property because guests at both hotels can use the restaurants and water park.
The combined resort is very large, with roughly 1 km of beachfront and about 1 km inland. Internal shuttle buses run between areas with only a few minutes’ wait; cycle rickshaws, bicycles and e-scooters are also available.
For pool and family time, the complex has 17 swimming pools, a large water park for adults and children, an amusement park and a VR park. The beach reportedly has sufficient sunbeds, while accommodation areas have their own lifeguarded pools.
For swimming and snorkeling, there is a reef pier plus two lagoons: a deeper one by the Soprano restaurant and a shallow children’s lagoon near Alfredo. When the pier has a red flag, the lagoon may still be usable; reef shoes are advisable because of stones, shells and coral fragments.
Dining includes seven main restaurants and, across the complex, 15 bars and restaurants that do not require reservations; one seafood à la carte restaurant requires booking. The main all-inclusive restaurants operate from 5:00 am to midnight.
