TL;DR
Hotels commonly leave 0.5 litres of water per guest in the room, and extra water can be requested. Guests may also refill personal bottles from water dispensers where available; housekeeping tips can sometimes result in more bottles being left.
The standard room supply is one 0.5-litre bottle of water per guest. Other drinks may be served in cups, but guests can sometimes request an additional bottle per person.
Water should be provided free on request. It may initially come in bottles and later in cups, so ask staff specifically for bottled water if that is important.
Bottled water is left in the room and can be used to top up a personal reusable bottle.
Where the hotel has a water dispenser, guests can refill their own bottles from it. This is useful if the standard in-room supply is not enough.
