TL;DR
The sea is warmest from December to early March and in early summer (June-July); after March 15 sandstorms often begin, and by late summer the water can unexpectedly cool down even when air temperatures stay high.
Tide times in Sharm El Sheikh shift by 30-60 minutes daily, and in winter (December-February) the shift can reach 1-2 hours; in summer tides tend to occur earlier in the morning. These observations were made in late October, so the summer cycle may differ.
From December 2025 to early March 2026 the sea was warm and comfortable for swimming, though conditions vary year to year. After March 15 sandstorms typically start, so late winter through early March is a good window, but by mid-March conditions worsen. Comfort also depends heavily on the specific coastal area.
In July 2024 (first two weeks of the month, two-week trip), the sea was very warm and air temperatures reached 40-42°C (104-108°F).
During a three-week trip in July 2025, the sea was warm for the first two weeks but unexpectedly cooled during the third week: air temperature dropped to 38°C (100°F) and then to 34-36°C (93-97°F), which also cooled the water. So even in peak summer, conditions can fluctuate.
