TL;DR
Live corals and fish are found beyond the dead reef zone — swim past the buoys and the dead reef section to reach deeper water where living coral remains.
To see fish and living coral, swim past the buoys. Near the pontoon the water is very shallow — about chest-deep. Beyond that is a dead reef section, and further still the water deepens where remnants of live coral and fish can be found.
Coral damage in Egypt is partly caused by boats approaching too close to the reef, further harming an already fragile ecosystem.
The main cause of coral death in Egypt is construction sand entering the water due to coastal development. Sand settles on corals, suffocates them, and they die — turning grey. Grey coral means dead coral.
