TL;DR
eSIM doesn't work on every phone — budget models like Tecno can't install it, you need a reasonably modern device. If the signal at your apartment is weak, Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot sharing usually don't help — switching between several eSIM profiles from different carriers does.
One workaround for weak home signal: load multiple eSIM profiles (up to 10 stored) and keep 1-2 active at a time, switching between carriers depending on coverage. Works even on a non-flagship iPhone.
Sharing a mobile hotspot from another device or connecting via Wi-Fi did not fix the weak signal issue for one traveler — neither approach worked.
Poor indoor signal is often made worse by using an older phone model — the combination of an outdated device and a low-coverage area results in very weak reception.
eSIM isn't supported on every smartphone — for example, Tecno phones don't have this feature, so check your device's compatibility before relying on it.
