TL;DR
Standard rule is up to 100ml of liquid in carry-on, but during transit in Beijing and Shanghai bags get re-screened very strictly — even labeled 100ml bottles, antiseptics, lighters, kids' juice and fruit can be confiscated. Only one power bank per person is allowed and it gets checked separately.
A traveler transiting through Beijing shared their experience: bags go through an extra, very thorough scan — all liquid containers under 100ml without clear labels get opened and smelled, and some people had antiseptics and hydrogen peroxide confiscated. Power banks are strictly limited to one per person and get separately verified — staff take your passport, boarding pass and the device itself, photograph them together, then return everything. Bringing fruit in carry-on, even in transit, is not recommended. Drones (Osmo), cameras and equipment batteries went through without issues.
Another passenger flying via Shanghai reported that small kids' juice boxes, lighters and water were confiscated during screening. Advice: if in doubt, check such items into your luggage rather than risk it at security.
A traveler flying China Airlines via China asked about the general rule: carry-on liquids are allowed in containers of up to 100ml each, regardless of how many bottles you're bringing (skincare, toner, cream, etc.).
