TL;DR

Community reports say cigarette imports into Sri Lanka are officially prohibited. Travelers describe uneven enforcement for small personal quantities, but this does not remove the risk of confiscation or penalties; check current Sri Lankan Customs rules before flying.

Several travelers report that checks may be less strict for a small amount intended for personal use. This is anecdotal experience, not an official permission to import cigarettes.

Small quantity for personal use

Bringing a large volume, such as multiple cartons or an amount that appears commercial, is described as especially risky because cigarette imports are officially prohibited.
