TL;DR
Swimmers have reported fish nibbling and occasional bites at Konyaaltı and Lara, particularly when standing still in the water. Take extra care around rocks and the Mermerli Beach pier, where more fish gather and a potentially venomous lionfish has been spotted.
A lionfish was spotted near the pier by Mermerli Beach. Do not touch or step on unfamiliar fish: lionfish have venomous spines and a sting can be extremely painful.
There are noticeably more fish around rocks, especially near the mouth of a bay leading into open water. A snorkel mask helps you see the seabed and fish ahead of time, but take care because rocks can easily cut your feet.
A swimmer at Lara Beach reported a severe fish bite that caused bleeding and required help from lifeguards. If a bite is deep, ask beach lifeguards for assistance and seek medical care rather than continuing to swim.
Visitors at Konyaaltı have also noticed fish nibbling at their feet. Based on swimmer reports, it seems more likely when standing still for a long time and less common while actively swimming.
