Best family hotel in Bodrum with good sea access and kids activities

Based on 2 discussions with 3 participants · Last activity: 9 days ago

TL;DR

Azke hotel in Bodrum gets high marks for excellent sea access, free Turkish coffee, waffles and all-day fruit. Animation is modest but the sea is clean and clear — great for families.

A parent review highlights strong children’s facilities: the kids’ club runs from 10:00 to midnight with crafts and contests, but both staff and most children are Turkish-speaking, which may be difficult for a child who does not speak Turkish. There are three water-play areas: one for adults, one for older children, and one for toddlers; the middle one is especially popular with kids.

For families with small children, this hotel has a shallow sandy section with no need for water shoes and virtually no waves, plus numerous sea-entry points from the pier. Beach and pier loungers are usually available, unlike poolside loungers. A significant bay-related drawback is that plastic and debris can drift in by evening after initially clear days; serious water pollution was also reported on some days.

Comparing La Quinta and Azke: La Quinta caters mostly to adults, sea entry is via a platform, but a municipal beach is just a one-minute walk away — quiet, no animation or music. Azke has excellent sea access but music can start as early as 5 a.m. Both hotels are small and low-key, but the beautiful calm bay and proximity to town make them a good base for day trips to Ephesus, the windmills, Yalikavak, and nearby areas.

Colibri hotel in Bodrum: the property has many stairs. Animation program exists but is not very active. Sun loungers by the sea are freely available. Rooms are decent-sized and the hotel is in good condition.

Currently staying at Azke hotel — sea access is excellent and beach loungers are plentiful (pool area fills up early with families, but the beach side is fine). Standout perks: free Turkish coffee, freshly made waffles, and fruit available all day. Wi-Fi works both in the hotel and on the beach. Animation program exists but is minimal — if that's not your priority, the hotel is a solid 5/5.

In June the Aegean Sea in Bodrum is still refreshingly cool and the hotel is half-empty. By August the animation program at Azke is in full swing: evening mini-disco for kids, adult shows, and live music or a disco at the Lagoon area right by the sea. Good alcohol available at the lobby bar, plus a pleasant local semi-dry sparkling wine.

If your priority is the sea and beach rather than all-inclusive excess, Azke in Bodrum is a strong choice. For comparison, expensive hotels in Belek can disappoint with murky water, while here the sea is clear. No water slides or extensive kids' club, but for a relaxed family beach holiday it works well.

La Quinta hotel in Bodrum has no animation program and has age restrictions. Last year it was easy to book; this season it's fully booked. Good option for travelers seeking a quiet stay without entertainment programs.
