How to get a taxi in Bodrum, Turkey

You can ask staff to call a taxi not only at a hotel or restaurant but also in a shop — several participants mentioned this in July 2026. Staff are happy to help; they said simply waving one down on the street also works.

To avoid overpaying, a participant advised in June 2026 to ask the driver to switch on the meter when you get in: in their words, drivers cannot tamper with it. You can also follow the route in Google Maps — then, in their experience, there are no problems. In July another participant added that all yellow taxis have meters.

The Uber app, based on a traveler's experience in June 2026, only let her book a yellow taxi, with no way to specify the number of passengers — you can't know in advance which car will arrive. If you are a group of five with children, check capacity in advance via reception or at the rank.

In the Manisa area in late June 2026, a tourist complained that the BiTaksi app was dead: nobody accepted an order to their hotel. In reply they were advised not to wait on the app but to take a car from a taxi rank, use the call button on a pole or tree, or ask reception or a restaurant to call one.
