How to get to the Kos ferry terminal (Turkish customs) in Bodrum by taxi, and are Bodrum taxis safe?

Based on 2 discussions with 3 participants · Last activity: 28 days ago

TL;DR

From central Bodrum, take a taxi toward the castle and walk to customs; from Turgutreis, just tell the driver 'ferry to Kos' and he'll take you straight to customs (about 1 hour total). However, be careful — some taxi drivers have overcharged by 2.5x and taken detours through remote areas.

What the community said

A traveler reported a taxi driver from Mandarin Oriental hotel overcharged by 2.5x, ignored requests to stop, and drove off the main road into a forested area about 20 km from Bodrum. She had to jump out of the moving car and flag down other drivers. Advice: call the police immediately in such situations.

Transfer from Bodrum airport into town can go via different routes: some buses require a transfer in the Torba area, others go directly to the center. It's best to check the exact route right after landing — overall it's fairly quick to get into town.

To catch the ferry to Kos, the whole trip including boarding takes about 1 hour, and you can grab a taxi right before departure. If you're in Bodrum, take a taxi to the center and walk toward the castle to reach customs. If starting from Turgutreis, just tell the taxi driver 'ferry to Kos' and he'll drive you straight to customs.
