What is the sea temperature in Bodrum in late September — is it still warm enough to swim?

A recent report says late September can feel noticeably cool: air temperatures were about 22–24°C and the sea 22–23°C. Swimmers sensitive to cool water may find it uncomfortable.

Another participant noted that perceptions of 'cold' water are subjective, but as a matter of fact the sea in October typically stays around 20-23°C (68-73°F) — whether that feels comfortable is up to each swimmer.

According to one discussion participant, last year (2025) both air and sea were cooler than usual — many mentioned this. One man personally measured the water temperature wading in waist-deep, and on October 4, 2025 recorded 27.5°C.

By mid-July the sea in Bodrum is fully warmed up — around 26-27°C (79-81°F), while daytime air reaches 33-35°C (91-95°F), so the heat feels stronger than the water temperature.

In early July the water is still catching up to peak summer temps — usually comfortable for swimming by then, but a touch cooler than in the height of August.

In late September water temperature typically stays around 24-25°C (75-77°F), with daytime air at 28-30°C (82-86°F) — swimming is still very much on, including near hotels like Baska Resort.

In November the sun sets early — around 5:00-5:15 PM — so plan sightseeing and beach time for earlier in the day.

By late September daytime air stays around 27-29°C (81-84°F), but evenings noticeably cool down to about 20°C (68°F) — worth bringing a light layer.

In late September the sea usually isn't cold — it stays around 23-24°C (73-75°F), comfortable for swimming even for those who feel the cold easily.
