Where to buy medicine in Turkey — pharmacies with English-speaking staff and what's available

From messages by 3 participants in 1 source · Last activity: 13 days ago

TL;DR

Travelers buy medicine in Turkey at ordinary pharmacies near their hotels: in summer 2026 they wrote that staff at many of them understand Russian and help pick local equivalents — painkillers, cold remedies, antivirals and vitamins. In Marmaris, Vitamaris Pharmacy (50B Cumhuriyet Boulevard) was recommended in June 2026 for its Russian-speaking staff member; pharmacies there closed at 19:30. In September 2026 a traveler advised double-checking the price and asking for a receipt straight away if you need it for insurance.

What the community said

Check the price and get a receipt: in late September 2026 a traveler said that at a pharmacy with a Russian-speaking staff member, the Turkish pharmacist first quoted half the price, and then the other staff member named a price twice as high. She was not given a receipt at first, although she needed it for her insurance claim, and had to go back. If you plan to claim on insurance, ask for the receipt right away.

What travelers bought: in June 2026 a traveler said that at a pharmacy around the corner from her hotel (near a Waikiki store) the staff understood Russian and helped her choose. She bought the painkillers Arveles, Majezik and Brufen (the same as Nurofen), A-ferin Sinus for a lingering runny nose, the antiviral oseltamivir, vitamin D for her child, and Tulolhot, a Theraflu-type cold remedy. Check with the pharmacist or a doctor before taking medicine, especially for children.

Pharmacies near hotels with Russian-speaking staff are common: in June–July 2026 several travelers wrote that there were pharmacies next to their hotels where the pharmacist spoke at least some Russian, and sometimes fluently. At one of them, a traveler said, you could pay in various currencies. Guests of the Bieno Venus hotel wrote that for two years running they used the nearby pharmacy, where the pharmacist speaks Russian well.
