Is Side Turkey worth visiting without a rental car or organized tours?

You can visit the ancient part of Side independently by taxi: swim until 8am, have breakfast, take a taxi around 9am, sightsee until 11-12, then stop for a drink. You can walk back along the promenade with stops, or take a dolmus/taxi instead. You won't cover the whole old town in one visit, but it's worth going.

Geynik Canyon can be visited independently by taking a taxi there. It's a popular spot with plenty of visitors, so navigating without a guide is manageable.

Visiting Side without a package deal or rental car is considered a niche choice. Getting around the surrounding area is quite limited, and most worthwhile attractions require either a car or a booked excursion.

Hotels located in the outer parts of the Side area can feel very isolated without a car. Even reaching Side's historic center requires a taxi, and there's little within walking distance.
