Best beaches and snorkeling spots near Dubai — where to swim and see marine life?

Kite Beach in Dubai may not live up to expectations: a recent visitor found construction nearby, seaweed on the shore, and many shells underfoot. As a more appealing alternative, the beginning of Jumeirah Beach was noted as uncrowded, with clean sand and clear, pleasantly colored water.

Le Meridien's beach faces open sea — more space, but rougher waves and less marine life than more sheltered beaches. One traveler switched to Address after a scary experience with strong waves at Rotana the previous year.

July can be a poor time for swimming in Sharjah: the shallow water may feel almost hot. It gets a bit more comfortable farther out, but buoy lines limit how far you can swim.

For hotel beaches, the beach at Address was noted for turtle sightings and generally calmer water, while Rotana can have very strong waves in early September.

The Gulf of Oman near Fujairah is scenic and peaceful — ideal for nature lovers who prefer quiet beaches. Clear water with turtles, reef sharks, and hermit crabs. Not suitable if you want a lively beach party scene.

Jumeirah Beach near the Burj Al Arab has soft white sand and plenty of beautiful shells. The sea is calm and good for swimming — one of the best urban beaches in Dubai.

Saadiyat Island beach (Abu Dhabi) is visually stunning and photogenic, but in January the waves can be too strong for comfortable swimming — worth keeping in mind if visiting in winter.
