Is the sea warm enough for swimming in Dubai in December / around New Year?

One traveler found Dubai's sea comfortable for swimming during the first week of December, but somewhat cold afterward. This is a subjective assessment rather than a guarantee of comfortable swimming conditions.

The sea near Dubai's shore is cooler because the depth increases almost immediately from the coast; in July-August water temperature is around 26-28°C (79-82°F).

Someone asked if evenings bring relief from the heat — the answer was that early September the sea is still warm for swimming, but by December the water is unlikely to be comfortable for a swim.

Even 200 km away from Dubai, July brings around 30°C heat and humidity with frequent rain — by contrast, winter (December) has much more pleasant air temperatures, though the sea is cooler.

If planning a New Year's trip, keep in mind the sea temperature is around 22°C (72°F) at that time — some travelers find this too cool for extended swimming.
