What can I see in Dubai on a long evening layover if I’m not interested in shopping or hiking?

Walk around Dubai Marina, a lively waterfront with illuminated skyscrapers, night-photo opportunities and plenty of cafés for coffee or a snack.

The Burj Khalifa area is good for the evening fountain show and photographing downtown after dark, without needing to spend time shopping at Dubai Mall.

Abu Dhabi is an alternative idea, but it is less practical on a standard layover because of travel time; consider it only if you have a very long connection.
