How crowded are UAE hotels and beaches during the summer off-season?

Based on 1 discussion with 3 participants · Last activity: 14 days ago

TL;DR

During summer (July-August) hotels in Fujairah and Dibba run at only 10-20% occupancy, with mostly local visitors rather than tourists, especially on weekdays.

What the community said

In early August the airport was nearly empty, and shopping malls in Dibba and Fujairah had mostly local visitors. Compared to last year there were about 5 times fewer tourists, with hotels running at only 10-20% occupancy — a combination of low season and reduced travel demand due to regional tensions.

In late July the hotel was actually fairly full, not empty: many rooms had lights on in the evenings, the beach and sea were busy, and breakfast/dinner areas were crowded too. Staff mentioned around 80% occupancy on weekdays, with even more local guests arriving on weekends.

In late July there were quite a lot of visitors overall — more than the week before, especially on Sundays. The water park emptied out by evening, and hotel reception areas got crowded with luggage in the mornings due to guest check-in/check-out turnover.
