What is being built on the beach between Al Hamra Residence and Sofitel in Ras Al Khaimah, and will it affect Waldorf Astoria?

The construction area is on the beach between Al Hamra Residence and Sofitel. It may be unrelated to Waldorf Astoria, but this has not been confirmed.

Check conditions at Waldorf Astoria shortly before travelling: as of the September discussion, travelers were still trying to establish the purpose of the beachfront construction.

The fenced beachfront plot is thought to contain temporary construction cabins and storage for refurbishment work on a central tower. These structures were reportedly not there a year earlier.
