TL;DR
You can bring up to 1.5L of spirits (22%+), 2L of wine/low-alcohol drinks, or 3L of beer into Vietnam duty-free, plus 200 cigarettes. Taking Vietnamese dong out of the country is allowed but with restrictions.
Taking Vietnamese dong out of Vietnam is permitted but subject to limits — check the State Bank of Vietnam's official regulations before your trip for the current cap.
Spirits with 22% alcohol or higher can be brought into Vietnam duty-free up to 1.5 litres per person. This allowance applies only to travellers aged 18 and over.
Wine and other drinks below 22% alcohol can be brought in duty-free up to 2 litres per person.
Beer and other low-alcohol beverages are allowed up to 3 litres per person duty-free, for adults only.
The tobacco allowance into Vietnam is 200 cigarettes, 20 cigars, or 250g of loose tobacco per adult traveller. Under-18s have no duty-free tobacco allowance.
