Da Nang weather by month — when is rainy season?

Recent late-August observations report hot weather around 33–36°C, with no significant rain for weeks; when rain occurs, it is more often overnight or just a brief drizzle.

The timing of the wet season can vary substantially by year: in one recent year, October was very favorable and sustained rains did not arrive until November.

A more recent report says September weather is generally still decent, with sun lasting into mid-month, and real rains only start from October.

Good weather often lasts until mid-October, and September is usually fine too, though weather is hard to predict in advance.

Based on last year's experience, throughout August and most of September the sea stayed calm enough for swimming. Skies were often cloudy and some rain occurred, but the real cool, rainy season starts later.

Last year the first half of September (up to the 16th) had excellent weather, with a calm sea good for swimming.

Late June to early July is largely dry. Over a week from June 27, there was only one brief evening shower lasting about 30 minutes.

Rain in Da Nang can be very localised — it may pour in one part of the city while another area stays completely dry.

The rainy season typically starts around mid-September. Early September can be completely dry, but this isn't guaranteed.

Early September can be entirely rain-free — a full week in Da Nang in the first days of September passed without any rain.

Detailed experience from November through April: November is the rainiest month, mostly overnight rain with occasional daytime showers. December is drier. From January onward it's sunny and warm with only light overnight rain. February and March are excellent. Temperatures reach 33°C in early March and up to 40°C in April. The sea is not suitable for swimming from November until mid-February or early March.

Even in March Da Nang is not cold — shorts and a t-shirt are comfortable even on foggy or lightly rainy days. When the sun comes out, it gets noticeably hot.
