Cambodia visa on arrival from Ho Chi Minh City: cost, payment and onward-ticket requirements

Plan the return journey separately when crossing from Ho Chi Minh City into Cambodia: a border transfer or bus normally takes you to the Cambodian side only, and the trip back needs its own booking.

Bring US$30 cash for a Cambodia visa on arrival. Card payment at a land border is not a reliable option, and paying with a US$50 bill can create problems with change.

If you plan to leave Vietnam by bus to Cambodia around 45 days later, keep proof of that onward route in advance. Without an exit ticket, an airline or immigration officer may request additional evidence of your plans.

When flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Cambodia, you can obtain a visa on arrival, but the airline or border officer may ask for a return or onward ticket. Some travelers use a refundable ticket as proof, subject to its fare rules.
